If you are a new visitor to our site, then welcome. If you have been before, welcome back.
As you will see if you look around our site you will see the ride we did for Comic Relief in march. We are planning another ride shortly in aid of the Air Ambulances in the areas that we do most of our rides out.
We, like every other biker out there, knows of and accepts the risks of our chosen passion, and the day may come when we need the services of the Air Ambulance and their dedicated crews.
On Sunday the 29th July 2007, Daz, Lizzie Cheryl and myself(Kieran) went for a ride out, the weather was probably the best it's been this summer.  We all met up and headed out to Hawes and then up to Hartside, where we enjoyed a laugh at the cafe with a couple of bikers with Z1000's(one of whom had some weird brake discs on his bike), and relaxed with a coffee inside.
After we had finished our coffees we headed for Alston, planning to turn down the Brampton Road and head towards the Scot border.
I was leading down the Brampton road, followed by Cheryl, Lizzie then Daz.
As I came over the brow of a small hill, I was amazed to find a 4x4 beginning to overtake a car coming towards me. The 4x4 was around a 100yrds away and on my side of the road overtaking a car and heading straight for me, I braked thinking he would back off and pull in behind the car he was passing. He didn't! He continued, straight towards me, I had to move, I had no choice but to hit 1st, gun it and try dodge the 4x4. I nearly made it...................
The 4x4 clipped my foot on it's way past me, I don't know how.   Remarkably I kept control of the bike and rode around 200 yrds down the road with leg sticking out, I was looking down my leg, and my foot was pointing at the sky. It had twisted through 90 degrees clockwise to where it should have been.
The 4x4 didn't even stop. I had been involved in a hit 'n' run!!!
It was surreal and I was screaming to myself inside my helmet. I had to stop, apparently I even indicated left as I pulled up. As I stopped by the side of the road with my right leg stuck out, my left leg on the floor and I was resting on the bike to retain my balance, I realised I had a problem, other than the fact that my foot was pointing sideways, I couldn't put my side stand down!
I then screamed to Daz who had pulled up behind me to grab my bike, as soon as he had hold of 'Flick', I climbed off the bike and laid on the grass verge on my left side with my right leg on top of my left, my foot still pointing at the clouds.
Lizzie rang an ambulance................
I must say a huge Thank you to everyone who helped me, the paramedics, the nurses on Maple Ward, and the surgeons for screwing me back together.
I should also say Thank you to my good friend Daz for taking the pictures you see here, Cheryl for giving her support and comfort to Lizzie. And of course I must Thank Lizzie, and apologise to her, I know I'm going to do her head in for the next 6 weeks or so.
But of course a huge Thank you to the Air Ambulance crew, for all their help.
Please help us to help them, keep an eye on our site to see what we are doing to raise money to keep these guys and gals flying. Remember, you may need them one day too.
